Mystery print

Quiz time

I would like readers to give a direct and honest opinion of this print. I don't think it will be recognized. But, without directly knowing who made it, (I do), is there some one who dares give an opinion: Do you like it ? Is it good or is it mediocre or maybe even a sad print. What is it stylish, when (about) was it made. Does it make you think of some one or do you have a suggestion, do you happen to know comparable  prints ?

I'll give away it is German and obviously a flower market. And it very well may have been owned by the maker or his/her family. It's biggish: 36 x 40 cm. It has received a new blue matt. And with a saw and glasscutter a vintage 1950's car boot simple wooden frame was made to fitt today. (Do you like it ?)
And here's the details in the advertising board (?) on the wall of the house upper left.

Maybe the text (old German) starts before the picture, there's no clue, (but I don't think so)  so it could say: Reich...... or even Frankreich......... (middle sentence) and last sentence could say: FaWos........ (company name Wos......)

  1. i like the bottom half better than i like the top half-- probably because that's where the color and detail are.

  2. Thank you for opening Lily. The high diagonal white patches of rattling sails, suggesting movement and a windy day, together with the gray overall key is what I like most.

  3. that's funny! we like the exact opposite parts! there is something in the plants that reminds me of cuno amiet, but i don't think he's the artist.

  4. I understand, and also the black figures (children in the playground) in his print. But: it's a she and not Suisse. But I think it is such an uncommon print I hoped for some comments and opinions. Thank you again.

  5. Interesting image - well constructed and good use of colour and perspective which draws me in from bottom right to top left - I guess the direction of the wind - Is this all pointing towards the sign or is it the signature ?? either all very clever or am I reading too much in to it and it's just a pretty picture ! and I have not got a clue as to the artist. Great idea for a posting.

  6. Hello Steven, I'm glad you like it too. I added it to my humble collection because I had another but very different print by her. And it wasn't expensive. I shall reveal the identity this weekend. The posting has been visited almost a 100 times now within 5 days so I quess with so little response the idea wasn't that good.

  7. Hello Gerrie, It is a good idea - but I guess that readers don't like to show their ignorance by getting their guess wrong - safer to have no opinion. My mystery print postings rarely get any comments either and I really do not know the identities. !! at least with your we will learn something when you reveal the ARTIST !!

  8. I guess you're right but I just asked to let me know if you like it or not and maybe have a hunch and come up with something closely like this one. I honestly never would have known myself. Not in a million years showing I'm not afraid exposing my own ignorance. It's different. Lily was right: it in the bacj of her head it reminded her a bit of a print by Cuno Amiet. I'll tell tomorrow.
    Thanks!
